In 2020, the Riga International Film Festival, like many others, faced unprecedented circumstances. While questioning the new status quo, the RIGA IFF team decided to embrace the unknown and dedicate the 2020 festival theme to these extraordinary times of adaptation and shifting perspectives.
The entire “Owning the Unknown” identity aimed to reflect this turbulent existence, by breaking away from the standard rules of visual coherence. The festival's key visuals featured obscure melting landscapes, juxtaposed with grid lines and words that would subsequently disintegrate. Embrace the chaos, deconstruct, reconstruct and make the unknown – your own.
